Mission: The Holbrook Police Department strives to provide efficient, high-quality service and protection, making decisions rooted in accountability, responsibility, and ethical standards to enhance community safety.
About the Department: Founded on June 30, 1939, with Lafe Hatch as the first Chief of Police, HPD has served Holbrook since its early days as Horsehead Crossing, established in 1881. Named after railroad engineer Henry R. Holbrook, the town was a hub for cowboys and cattle ranchers in the 1880s. Legendary Sheriff Commodore Perry Owens brought law to Holbrook during a famous 1887 shootout at the Blevins House, a historic site still standing alongside the iconic Bucket of Blood Saloon and the 1898 Navajo County Courthouse.
